North Bay, ON – Nipissing Lakers Men's Volleyball are proud and excited to announce the signing of 2026 recruit Wyatt Thomas.
Thomas, hailing from London, Ontario, is an outside hitter. Thomas played three years with the Forest City Volleyball Club before joining London Volleyball Club for his U18 season this year.
Thomas describes himself as an energetic, level-headed, and hard-working player. Thomas is a leader on and off the court and has been named captain of his club teams for the past three seasons. Wyatt is willing to do whatever it takes to help the team win.
"I am very excited to don the blue and green. This is a moment I have been looking forward to since I started playing volleyball and I am grateful to have the opportunity to join such a strong program" Thomas said when asked how excited he is to be joining Nipissing.
When asked what expectations he had for himself and the Lakers, Thomas said that he looks forward to developing as a volleyball player and person during his time with Nipissing. He also emphasized his desire for Nipissing to be a team that is tough to play against.
Wyatt's high school team was able to win silver and bronze medals in OFSAA competition in recent years. Thomas' club teams compete in the Premiere OVA division against tough competition. Wyatt's personal awards include the Award of Excellence in 15U, the OVA Award of Excellence in 16U, and Most Improved in 17U.
Lakers Head Coach Eric Yung said "We are thrilled to welcome Wyatt to our 2026 recruiting class. He is a complete package, combining physicality, strong fundamentals, and a tireless work ethic. Wyatt's leadership complements our program's culture perfectly, and we are excited to be part of the next chapter of his development—both on and off the court."
When asked why Nipissing was his choice to continue his career and academic studies, Thomas said "I chose Nipissing not only for the great volleyball program, but for the smaller class sizes, natural environment, and intimate campus feel. Coming from a small French first-language school, I felt at home."
"When touring the campus, I was welcomed with open arms by the team and coaching staff. Nipissing's campus feels like a place I can call home for the next five years."
