North Bay, ON – Lakers Men's Volleyball is excited and proud to announce the commitment of 2026 recruit Ethan Leblanc!
Leblanc, hailing from Espanola, Ontario, is a setter who spent his junior club career with the Northern Chill Glaciers.
"I am very excited to sign with the Lakers. I have been working towards a spot in the program since I was introduced to volleyball and it is great to finally be able to join the team" Leblanc said when asked how excited he is to become a Laker.
When asked to describe his style and strengths as a player, Leblanc said "I am calm, disciplined and very competitive. My playstyle is about consistency and always trying to make the best play possible. My strengths include serving and understanding of the game."
Leblanc was asked to give expectations for the team and himself heading into his first year in the OUA and said "I'd like to continue pushing myself in the weight room to catch up with the physicality of university. I'd like to have a big involvement in this team's push to continue climbing the OUA standings."
Some notable accomplishments for Leblanc include his club team competing in the OUA's Premier division. Leblanc also captained his high school team to OFSAA championships for the first time in over ten years. Ethan has also mantained a 90% academic average throughout high school.
"We are excited to add another northern athlete to our program" Nipissing Lakers Men's Volleyball Head Coach Eric Yung said about Leblanc's commitment.
"We feel strongly about providing the opportunity for home grown athletes to contribute to our program. We have witnessed Ethan's hard work and dedication over the last 3 years. He has put himself in a situation where he can succeed both on and off the court. We can't wait to officially have him on campus in the fall. There is no doubt he will continue to grow at this level."
When asked why he chose Nipissing, Leblanc said "My high school coach is a Nipissing Alumni and has been a mentor and a role model for me over the years. In addition, I have had the opportunity to spend the last three summers attending the Nipissing High Performance Camp where I experienced the campus, athletic facilities, and coaching staff at the university. All of these were instrumental in my thought process of choosing this school."
