With only a few games left on the schedule, every outing is important and there was no bigger weekend than this one for the Nipissing Lakers women's soccer team.
Unfortunately, things didn't start the way they would have liked Saturday when they took on the Ryerson Rams.
The Lakers ended up losing 3-1, missing out on a chance to jump Toronto and into the final playoff position.
Toronto was also defeated Saturday, but Nipissing couldn't take advantage, as they were unable to claim the three points.
Ryerson got off to a quick start, scoring 14 minutes into the game to set the tone.
The teams finished the first 45 minutes with the Rams up 1-0, and like the first half, 14 minutes into the second half, the Rams scored what would be the game-winner.
Ryerson iced the game away in the 81st minute, making it 3-0 before Lakers defender
Delaney Borsato answered to make it 3-1.
Nipissing will look to hope into a playoff spot with a win Sunday when they take on the Toronto Varsity Blues.
Game time is set for noon at Varsity Stadium.
