As they continue on their long stretch of games on the road, the Nipissing Lakers met a Brock Badgers team that was hungry for their first victory after a tough few weekends of play.
Coming into the game, the Lakers had won two in a row and were 2-0-2 on the season and the Badgers sat with a 0-3-1 record – seemingly a mismatch, but it was anything but on the ice.
Despite outshooting the Badgers, the Lakers were unable to find the back of the net and suffered their first regulation loss of the season, losing 3-0 Friday night.
Nipissing peppered 34 shots towards former OHL goalie Clint Windsor, but couldn't beat him.
Brock jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the second half of the first period despite only having eight shots in the frame.
The Lakers once again put pressure on the Badgers and Windsor, finishing with 22 shots through 40 minutes, but the score remained 2-0 Brock.
In the third period, Brock sealed the win with their third goal of the game, which led to their first win of the season.
Domenic Graham finished with 26 saves in the loss, while Windsor was perfect, stopping all 34 shots put his way.
Both teams were 0-for-5 on the power play.
Nipissing is back in action Saturday night when they head to Toronto for a matchup with the York Lions.
Both teams entered Friday night undefeated in regulation, with the Lions remaining that way thanks to their third straight win.
They sit at 3-0-1 on the season, good for third in the West Division, while Nipissing sits fourth in the East at 2-1-2.
Game time is set for 7 p.m.
