The Nipissing Lakers women's soccer team ended the season just like they started it – with a win.

The Lakers wrapped up the 2016 season today as they defeated RMC 3-1 at home, closing out what was an up and down campaign.

Nipissing will miss the playoffs, but had some memorable wins, including victories over Toronto and Ottawa, who was previously undefeated.

On Sunday, the Lakers used two goals by Andrea Young and another by Selena Innamorati to pick up the three points and their fifth victory of the season.

Young got things started just four minutes into the game as she finished off a corner kick by Renee Clarke, who finished with two assists on the day.

The goal was Young's second of the season and third point.

Nipissing went up 2-0 beautiful header from Innamorati who redirected a Clarke corner to the back of the net for what ended up being the game- winning goal.

The goal was Innamorati's fifth of the season.

RMC game cut the lead in half when their goalkeeper Alex Hogg scoring on a penalty kick.

But that was as close as RMC would get.

Nipissing sealed the win when Young scored her second of the game and third of the season in the 79th minute after capitalizing on a mistake by Hogg, who fumbled the ball inside the crease.

Carlee Bennard finished with 13 saves for the win in her final game with the Lakers.

Nipissing finished the season on a 2-1-2 streak and overall, ended up 5-8-3, good for 18 points.
