MEN'S SOCCER: LAKERS SHUTOUT BY BLUES

It was a tough afternoon for the Nipissing Lakers men's soccer team against the second-place Toronto Varsity Blues.

The Blues struck early and often, keeping the Lakers off balance on their way to a 6-0 decision.

Toronto scored four times in the first half, including the opening goal at the two-minute mark, and added two in the second half as they cruised to the three points.

Jack Wadden had four goals for Toronto, while Nipissing managed just six shots on goal, compared to Toronto's 10.

Nicholas Cirullo was busy in net, finishing with four saves, including some impressive ones, but it wasn't enough.

Nipissing did manage some quality scoring opportunities, but they were unable to convert, while Toronto made no mistake on their end.

The Lakers will look to rebound against the Ryerson Rams Sunday afternoon.

Currently Nipissing is still in the playoff hunt, but will need to pick up points in their remaining three games to have a shot.

Game time is 2:15pm at Scollard Hall.
