On the plus side, the Nipissing Lakers women's soccer team earned four of a possible six points this weekend.
Unfortunately, they could have easily had all six, if not for a late comeback by the Ryerson Rams Sunday afternoon in cold, rainy conditions.
After a big 5-1 win over Toronto Saturday, the Lakers jumped out to a 2-0 lead on the Rams, but goals four minutes apart late in the second half by Ryerson salvaged a point on the road.
Abby Wroe, on her birthday, found the back of the net for her first OUA goal on a slick header to put the Lakers up 1-0 in the 41 st minute.
Cameron Brodie crossed the ball that Wroe put to the back of the net.
Leading at the half, Nipissing came out strong in the second and extended their lead thanks to another header, this time by
Vanessa Rota, who re-directed a Julie Previte corner kick.
Up 2-0, it looked like the Lakers would be on their way to another three points, but goals at the 75 and 79-minute mark by the Rams tied the game.
The teams would each get a chance or two down the stretch, but the game finished in a draw and each team earned a single points.
Mykaela Volpe was solid in net, finishing with five saves on seven shots.
Nipissing will wrap up the season and continue their push for the post-season next weekend, as they host Trent and UOIT.
Both games are noon – Saturday and Sunday – at Scollard Hall.
