One thing is for sure; the Nipissing Lakers men's volleyball team knows how to put on a show.
The Lakers capped off the home portion of the regular season Sunday as they hosted the Western Mustangs at the RJS Athletic Centre.
The Mustangs came away with a hard-fought 3-1 victory over the Lakers, but both teams left it all on the court and battled for every single point through the four sets.
Right from the get-go, the Lakers and Mustangs traded points and played some of the best volleyball of the season.
Western started off strong, leading 7-4 early in the first set.
They translated that into a lead of 19-18, but they weren't able to close out the match.
Nipissing stormed back and eventually won the set 31-29 to go up 1-0.
The Lakers led 16-14 at the technical timeout in the second set, but trailed late.
They pushed and began to chip away, but Western sealed the win, taking the second set 25-20.
With the match even, it was once again the Lakers who led at the set break, up 16-14.
Nipissing pushed that to a lead of 21-18 late in the set, but the Mustangs poured it on late and came away with a 26-24 victory to go ahead 2-1 overall.
In what turned out to be the final set, Western held a three point advantage at the technical timeout in the fourth set.
Both teams pushed, both teams stepped up, but it was the Mustangs who walked away with the win, 25-19, to take the match.
It was an exciting four sets of OUA volleyball.
