Box Score 2 The Nipissing Lakers women's soccer team extended their undefeated streak to four games thanks to a win and a draw on the weekend in Kingston.
The Lakers are now 3-0-1 in their last four games, thanks to a 1-1 draw against the Queen's Gaels and a big 5-1 win over the RMC Paladins.
Friday, the Lakers rebounded from a tough loss to the Gaels earlier in the season with an impressive effort to grab a point against a nationally ranked opponent.
Queen's scored the first goal of the game and lone tally of the first half, going up 1-0 in the 21st minute.
Just before the hour mark and about 10 minutes into the second half,
Avery Cafaro tied the game, finding the back of the net.
The scored remained deadlocked, as both teams grabbed a single point in the contest.
In their next game, the Lakers scored early and often to pick up a key win.
Nipissing scored three times in the first half, including a goal just three minutes into the game.
Annika Nolte opened the scoring, while
Cassidy Brooks scored twice, including the game-winner to give the Lakers a 3-0 lead at halftime.
Jessica Emmerton and
Victoria Picanco tallied in the second half, while RMC scored late to spoil Nipissing's clean sheet.
The Lakers improved to 5-3-1 on the season, preparing for a pair of tough matchups at home this weekend.
Nipissing hosts the TMC Bold and Toronto Varsity Blues this weekend, with both games set for Noon at Nipissing Field.
