The Nipissing Lakers lacrosse team will look to regroup heading into this weekend's action after two tough losses to start the season.
The Lakers dropped the season opener 18-0 to the Trent Excalibur this past Wednesday on the road in Peterborough before falling to the Bishop's Gaiters 11-4 on Saturday at home.
In the team's first matchup, Trent grabbed a 6-0 after one and 9-0 after two, doubling their lead in the second half.
They went up 13-0 after three quarters of play and capped off the game with five more goals in the fourth and final quarter to grab the win.
On Saturday in the Lakers' home opener, they hung around with a strong Gaiters team, but weren't able to pull out the win.
Bishop's jumped out to a 5-2 lead after the opening quarter, with
Carter Tait and
Dalton King finding the back of the net for Nipissing.
Neither team scored in the second quarter, with the score remaining 5-2 Gaiters heading into the halftime break.
The teams combined for just three goals in the third, with Nipissing closing the gap to two goals before Bishop's added to their lead.
Zach Tarr buried his first of the season early in the quarter prior to the Gaiters finding the back of the net twice late to go up 7-3 after three.
Bishop's put the game away in the fourth, outscoring Nipissing 4-1 to cap off the offence.
Tarr potted his second of the game on the power play, but once again, the Gaiters replied, scoring four times to seal the deal.
After a tough opening week, Nipissing will look to get into the win column on the road against McGill Saturday and Carleton Sunday.
