Box Score As the Nipissing Lakers men's hockey team looks to bounce back after a tough loss Friday night, they hit the ice again Saturday.
Falling to the Ottawa Gee Gees Friday, the Lakers hosted the Carleton Ravens in the final game of their homestand.
Despite a strong effort, the Lakers were doubled up, falling 4-2 Saturday.
There was very little offence to report through the first two periods.
After a scoreless first period, with each team firing 12 shots on net, the Ravens were first on the board in the middle frame.
A shorthanded goal midway through the period broke the ice and had Carleton up 1-0 after 40 minutes of play.
Shots favoured the Ravens 21-19 through the two periods of play.
In the third, the Ravens would double their lead, scoring a power play marker early in the period.
Less than five minutes later, the Lakers would cut into the Carleton lead and get on the board.
Harrison Caines fired home a power play marker of his own, setup by
Elias Lieffers and
Payton Vescio.
Carleton would answer Caines' goal with two of their own, going up 4-1 late in the game.
Down three, the Lakers scored late as
Cole Stewart found the back of the net, set up by Caines who had a multi-point game and captain
Parker Bowman.
Reece Proulx was between the pipes, finishing with 32 saves, while the Lakers had 29 of their own.
Nipissing hits the road next weekend, heading to Waterloo to face the Warriors and Laurier Golden Hawks.
