Kingston/Oshawa, ON – Nipissing Men's Basketball suffered two losses on the road this past weekend. 

On Friday, Feb. 6, the Lakers travelled to Kingston for a matchup with the Queen's Gaels.  

Queen's took the first quarter 39-19 before Nipissing battled back in the second, scoring 25 points to the Gaels 19. Nipissing trailed 58-44 at half. 

Queen's again outscored the Lakers in the third quarter, scoring 31 to Nipissing's 12. The fourth quarter saw a similar result, as the Gaels closed a 111-69 victory scoring 22 to Nipissing's 13. 

Alvin Icyogere scored 25 pts and added 6 rebounds in the loss. Andrew Latham scored 11 points and added 4 rebounds and 1 assist.  

Nipissing shot 35.4% from the field and 27% from three. The Lakers managed 24 points in the paint and 28 points off the bench.  

Then, Saturday, Feb. 7, the Lakers looked to finish the weekend trip on a high, facing the Ontario Tech Ridgebacks. 

Ontario Tech scored 25 to Nipissing's 14 to lead after the first quarter. The Lakers answered in the second, scoring 28 points to Tech's 23 to trail 48-43 at half. 

The Lakers outscored the Ridgebacks 18-15 in the third to only trail by two points heading to the fourth. In the final frame, Tech scored 20 to Nipissing's 17, securing an 83-77 win for the Ridgebacks. 

The Lakers had four players in double digit scoring in the loss, as Chris-Evrard Malonga had 19, Alvin Icyogere had 13, Jeziyah Excell-Johnson scored 12, and Ryan Heim added 10. Mateja Vukic added 6 points, grabbed 6 rebounds, and contributed 3 assists. 

Nipissing shot 31% from the field, 29% from three, and 96% from the free throw line. The Lakers managed 31 points off the bench and 26 points in the paint. 

The losses move Men's Basketball to a 6-14 record this season. 

Men's Basketball is back home this coming weekend. On Friday, Feb. 13, the Lakers will host the Ottawa Gee-Gees at 8PM. Then, Saturday, Feb. 14, the Carleton Ravens will be the visitors.
