Christian Hager 

North Bay, Ontario – Lakers Men's Basketball is proud to announce the signing of Christian Hager to the program for 2026 and beyond. 

Hager, a native of Brantford, Ontario, is a point guard who previously played at Mount Allison University in the Atlantic University Sport (AUS) conference. 

When asked about his strengths and style of play, Christian said "I am a long, athletic point guard who can handle the ball well and play positions one through three. I'm a physical player, as well; I love to get in the paint and create opportunities to score for myself and teammates. I take pride in playing solid and athletic defense." 

"I expect us to play a good brand of basketball and be a competitive team that gets better every rep" Hager said when asked what expectations he has for the team and himself.  

"I expect us to make some noise in the OUA. As for myself, I want to impact winning in every way I can while getting closer to the best version of myself every day. I want to be a good leader, and a player that Coach Cory can trust." 

"Christian is a versatile, hard-working player that we're excited to add to the program" said Lakers Head Coach Thomas Cory. 

"Christian can play and defend multiple positions on the court, something that is valuable to the team. He is a great presence in the room and brings great energy to our group. We're excited to welcome Christian to the Lakers this fall." 

"I chose Nipissing because I believe Coach Cory is a high-level coach that I can learn a great deal from. The way he runs his program is something I like, and I believe Nipissing is a great fit for me regarding basketball and academics."
