North Bay, Ontario – Nipissing Lakers Men's Basketball is excited and proud to announce the signing of recruit Julio Massa to the program. 

Massa, who hails from Longueuil, QC, is a small forward who has spent the previous three seasons with the Dawson College Blues D2 team.  

"We're excited to add Julio to the roster," said Lakers Head Coach Thomas Cory. "Julio's a skilled shooter. He has a great attitude that fits well with our team's culture and identity. We've watched Julio for the last few seasons, and our coaching staff has had a chance to get to know him and his game very well. Coming off of being named league MVP this past season, we're excited to see what Julio can do in OUA competition this fall." 

Massa describes the strengths of his game as having a great ability to finish around the rim and being a good shooter of the basketball. 

"I want to continue to develop as a player and student on and off the court" Julio said when asked about what expectations he has for himself when joining the Lakers. "I want to help the team win games in any way that I can." 

Julio was named a 1st team All Star twice during his career with Dawson College. Massa was also named 2025-26 RSEQ Southwest Division League MVP. 

"I chose Nipissing because Coach Cory and the staff have shown me nothing but love and interest throughout my entire career in CEGEP. When it came time to make this decision, it was really a no-brainer that I wanted to be a Laker. I'm excited to get to work this summer and prepare for my first season of OUA competition."
