North Bay, Ontario – Nipissing Lakers Nordic Skiing is proud and excited to announce that recruit Elena Kühn has committed to the program for next season and beyond.
Kühn hails from Fridolfing, Bavaria and is excited to join the Lakers this fall as
"The coaching staff were impressed by the amount of training that Elena has under her belt already, with 650 hours of training logged last season" Nipissing Nordic Ski Head Coach Toivo Koivukoski said about Kühn's signing.
"This bodes well for her long-term development as a dual sport, nordic skiing and cross-country athlete as we increase training volume over time."
"I chose Nipissing University because it is a great environment to combine competitive skiing and studying," Elena said. "The nice team culture and training philosophy, combined with the opportunity to study psychology, convinced me that Nipissing was the right choice for me. The chance to be a dual-sport athlete competing in both cross-country running and nordic skiing excites me."
"Elena brings self-discipline and rigor and will join a daily training environment with a strong crew of teammates pushing each other on," Kovukoski said.
"Her race results in Germany and FIS points put her solidly within this training group. Elena sports top 10 Germany Cup results and a first-place finish last season in the Bavarian Provincial Championships. Her commitment will further develop depth in our roster of skiers while contributing to our positive team culture."
Welcome to Nipissing, Elena!
