The Nipissing Lakers ringette team is excited to welcome a new recruit, who is set to join the team for the upcoming season.
Nipissing has added Hayden Meyer, a defenceman from North Bay, ON.
Meyer will be enrolling in the Bachelor of Fine Arts program when school resumes in the fall and previously suited up for the West Ferris 63s before making the choice to play for Nipissing.
She is looking forward to the upcoming jump to the next level.
"I am very excited to be attending Nipissing University this upcoming school year, as I am able to stay in my hometown and I have the opportunity to play my favourite sport; ringette," Meyer explained. "As for my abilities – I am a very strong, fast and effective skater. I have a hard shot and I have great defensive skills."
After naming a new coach last year, the team will likely be participating in the University Division of ORA Provincials, where the entire division will be composed of Ontario university teams and the winner will be the University Champion for Ontario.
The 2020-21 season will be the team's 11th year. Dryland practices, on-ice practices and development games will commence this fall, with restrictions and guidelines as dictated by Nipissing University, Ringette Ontario, local health unit as well as provincial restrictions. Competitive play is anticipated to be available in January.
