North Bay, Ontario – Nipissing Lakers Men's Basketball is excited to announce the signing of 2026 recruit Will Halward.
Halward, a shooting guard from Woodstock, Ontario. Will played for the West United/Oxford Attack and Woodstock Collegiate Institute this season.
"I want to come to the Lakers to contribute to winning as much as possible" Halward said of expectations for himself as he enters the OUA. "I'm willing to do whatever it takes on and off the court to help the team."
Will says he chose Nipissing because it was the best fit for him academically and athletically.
"I've always loved the pace and feel of a smaller town in comparison to those of a big, busy city."
"We are excited to add Will to the program" said Lakers Head Coach Thomas Cory.
"His ability to shoot the ball is something that we really liked throughout the scouting process. Will shows a dedication to working on his craft and improving his skills on and off the floor. His character is great for our team, and we are excited to welcome him to the program this fall."
Halward's accomplishments from his junior and high school career include Woodstock Collegiate Institute Basketball Most Valuable Player for the 2021-22, 2023-24, and 2024-25 seasons. Will was named league MVP in 2024-25. Halward also was a 2023 OFSSA bronze medalist, 2025 OFSSA silver medalist with Woodstock.
