North Bay, Ontario – Nipissing Lakers Men's Basketball is proud and excited to announce the signing of recruit Darko Karac to the program for 2026 and beyond.
Karac, a native of Vancouver, BC, is a point guard. Karac played the previous two seasons with the Brandon University Bobcats of Canada West.
"I would say my strengths are my passing, creating shots from anywhere on the court, and my ability to score" Darko said when asked what fans should expect from his game this fall.
"I want to be the best version of myself and continue developing my game and skills at the next level" Karac said when asked about expectations for himself coming into OUA play. "I will do anything it takes to help our team win basketball games. I expect our team to do great things this season."
"We're excited to add Darko to the roster" Lakers Head Coach Thomas Cory said of Karac's signing.
"Darko's ability to play both guard positions, score the ball at all three levels, and facilitate great playmaking are all things that stood out to us as we got to know him. Darko's a great fit for the culture of our program. He's committed to building and working at his craft and we can't wait to welcome him to the team this fall."
Some notable accomplishments for Karac include being named 2A Zone League MVP in 2023 and 2024, winning provincials in 2023, and being named a member of the UPlay West team of the Nike Elite Youth Basketball League.
When asked why he chose Nipissing, Darko said "I believe a coach who is well connected with his players and has full belief and confidence in them is a necessity in developing as a person, student, and player; Coach Cory perfectly fits in that category."
"I am excited to meet my new teammates, coaches, and become a part of the Laker family this fall!"
Welcome to Nipissing, Darko!
