MEN'S HOCKEY: LAKERS ADD TWO QUALITY FOWARDS PLUS MAYNE MAKES HIS RETURN

The Nipissing Lakers men's hockey team is excited and proud to welcome a pair of new recruits to the program, as well as welcoming back a familiar face.

The Lakers have added forwards Kenny Belanger and Maddox Amaral, as well as Reilly Mayne, who will return to the team after a season away from the Lakers.

All three will give the forward group a shot in the arm when they hit the ice for the 2025-26 OUA season.

Kenny Belanger
Position: Forward
Hometown: Sault Ste. Marie, ON
Team: Collingwood Blues (OJHL)
Belanger: "I'm a two-way power forward and a versatile player who can play both wing and centre. I excel at retrieving pucks off the wall quickly in the defensive zone, transitioning to offense with speed and taking key faceoffs on both the penalty kill and power play. I use my size to protect the puck and create opportunities for my teammates in the offensive zone while using my stick and body positioning to shut down plays effectively in the defensive zone."

"My expectations are to come in, be a team player, adapt to Coach McParland's systems and play the right way to help the team succeed. I see myself as an offensive contributor who can generate chances and make plays, while also being responsible in all three zones. I embrace being a versatile player who can fit into different spots in the lineup, whether it's producing offensively, playing shut-down minutes, or bringing energy on the forecheck. As a team, the goal is to earn a playoff spot and make a deep push to compete for a championship."

Reilly Mayne
Position: Forward
Hometown: Hopeall, NL
Team: Deer Lake Red Wings (CWSHL)
Mayne: "I can't wait to get back. Practicing with the coaches and team this year was nice, but lacking the atmosphere of games had me itching to be there all year.
I've been working hard to make sure I can contribute offensively when I'm back and want to help the team win come playoffs.
The thing I missed most was helping the boys out in games.
My personal expectations are to be a positive influence every game and this group has potential to make a good run come playoffs so we will be fun to get going."

Maddox Amaral
Position: Forward/Left Wing
Hometown: Komoka, ON
Team: Humboldt Broncos (SJHL)
Amaral: "As a player, I pride myself on my strong work ethic and 200-foot play style, as well as my commitment on and off the ice. With each experience presented to me, my passion for the sport has deepened and has taught me to overcome adversity."

"I've been lucky enough to be recognized for my commitment as a player and have been the assistant captain the past two seasons with the Broncos. I look forward to working hard, showing my passion and having fun with the Lakers next season."
