North Bay, ON – Nipissing Lakers Men's Hockey is proud to announce the signing of 2026 recruit Michael Derbidge.
 
DerbiDge, hailing from Holland Landing, Ontario, is a forward who plays mainly at left wing.
 
Michael has played for the OHL's Barrie Colts and Sudbury Wolves, as well as the Maritime Junior Hockey League's Edmunston Blizzard. The Blizzard are currently in the playoffs where Derbidge has appeared all games played thus far.
 
Derbidge describes himself as a "big, fast, and heavy shot winger that likes to contribute every game in any way that I can."
 
"I expect to help the team win and bring a positive vibe on and off the ice around the team" Derbidge said. "The team's success is important to me, and I want to win as much as we can as a group."
  
"I chose Nipissing because of the constant positive feedback I have heard about the school and hockey program" Derbidge said when asked why he made the decision to commit to Nipissing.
 
"I felt the opportunity with the Lakers is amazing, and I can't wait to get started this fall."
